File Compressors

We originally started this using WinRAR, which you will see in our videos. WinRAR is fine for creating a quick archive, but we couldn't achieve a compression ratio that satisfied us. We then learned that 7-Zip's compression was largely superior (at least for us). This means we can give you the same programs in a much smaller file size.

We recommend that you download both of these programs. They can be running at the same time and don't lose any functionality. If you only want to download one, 7-Zip may be the one for you as, 7-Zip can open (most if not all) WinRAR files/folders. WinRAR cannot open all of the files and archives created in 7-Zip

We may end up switching over to 7-Zip .part files which have the extension .001-.002...ect. WinRAR cannot open/extract these files. WinRAR can, however, open the highly compressed archives (.7z) that are created with 7-Zip.

WinRAR's file extensions:

• .rar
• .part1.rar, .part2.rar .part3.rar...

7-Zip's file extensions:

• .7z
• .001, .002, .003...
